In the video this week you heard about other ways you could utilize to complete stress cycles. Far and away the very best way is walking!
The most common pushback on physical movement of any kind is:
- I don’t have time…
- I don’t have the right shoes (equipment)…
- I have physical pain or hindrance…
The best way to get started is to CHOOSE to start! Remember from last week — start, start small, attack those excuses/lies, and most important — keep going! If need be, choose to choose again!
Here are a few small ways to begin to incorporate more movement into your daily activities:
- Create more opportunity for yourself – Park in the parking spot furthest from the door.
- Start small – Walk to the driveway of your neighbor’s house and back. The next day walk one driveway further. The next day walk two driveways further and keep building from there.
- Make it a part of your daily flow – Put on some music and dance your way through cooking and chores.
- Take advantage of downtime – During tv time, walk around your house during the commercials.
- Stretch – Take a few minutes to stretch every hour while sitting for long periods at your workstation.
- Stand up – Find more ways to stand instead of sit. While standing, shift your weight from one foot to the other.
- Challenge yourself – When available, take the stairs or walk the stairs in your office/house.
How creative can you be? You are worth every minute of time you invest in taking care of YOU!
